Summer at the Lake

May 8, 2012

Companion piece for “Autumn in the City,” showing characters from the previous scene in a less urban environment. (That one hasn’t been posted here yet, but it’s up on the portfolio if you want to take a look!)

A busy scene showing campers and lake goers participating in traditional camping activities.

“Summer at the Lake.” 7″ x 13″. Mixed media with emphasis on digital collage. May 2012.

With this illustration, I wanted to explore a few characters I created for the previous illustration and see how they worked in another setting. The gal with the mohawk, for example, was very at ease in the city scene, while here she’s a bit off her stride. Click on the image for a larger view!

wonderful post, but nowadays all lakes are surrounded by buildings and spoiled the nature’s gifts.

While this holds true in many places, there are a few areas with unspoiled lakes yet. This scene was based on a camping trip I took in Ontario last year. Only the light from our fire could spoil the view of the stars!
