Part of a series created in response to The Botany of Desire, specifically the chapter on historical tulip obsession in the Middle East and Holland. I chose to create illustrations for an article in a scientific publication. I broke the image of the Semper Augustus tulip in the style of corrupted images, as the beautiful crazing patterns are actually formed by a virus that destroys the genetic information of the bulb.
